Sample Itineraries

Those are some options for day trips leaving from San Jose or Alajuela Hotels:

Option A: San Luis Canopy Tour and Espiritu Santo Coffee tour

We'll start around 8:30AM and reach Naranjo, a town well known for its coffee plantations. There you will have the opportunity to learn about the coffee process, and if you visit during the harvest season from November to January, you will have the chance to pick the coffee cherries yourself.
Then we will have lunch in a good local restaurant and head to the next adventure: the canopy tour at San Luis, located inside the cloud forest. ICT certified, great guides, and 12 cables / 18 platforms will make this an enjoyable experience ending with the Tarzan Swing…

Option B: Espiritu Santo Coffee Tour and Shopping in Sarchi

We'll start around 8:30AM and reach Naranjo, a town well known for its coffee plantations. There you will have the opportunity to learn about the coffee process, and if you visit during the harvest season from November to January, you will have the chance to pick the coffee cherries yourself.
Then we will have lunch in a good local restaurant and head to the next destination: Sarchi town, famous for the oxcart and handmade wood crafts. Let's choose among the many souvenir stores to look for that special item and to learn more about the artisans’ abilities.

Option C: Central Pacific ~ Mangrove Tarcoles River Tour and Hermosa Beach

We'll start early around 7:30 to be on time for the 10:00AM mangrove tour along the Tarcoles River. Here we will see many water birds and the crocodiles in their natural habitat. Once the tour is done, we will have lunch in a good local place and will drive you to nearby Hermosa Beach where you will have time to enjoy the sun before returning to San Jose.

Option D: Poas Volcano National Park and Butterfly Farm

We recommend a very early start to have more time to see the beautiful crater of Poas Volcano, allowing time to wait if it is not clear in order to enjoy its majesty. Let's enjoy lunch on the way to the Butterfly Farm, a guided tour that will show you the different stages of these lovely creatures which are found all over Costa Rica.
This tour is very informative and recommended for all ages.

Option E: Atlantic Costa Rica ~ Canopy Tour Braulio Carrillo National Park and Toucan Rescue Ranch

This Canopy is located on the route to the Caribbean immersed in the lush vegetation of Braulio Carrillo National Park.
Once we complete the tour, your driver will stop for lunch on the way to the Toucan Rescue Ranch, your next stop. This is a wildlife rescue facility with informative educational programs and volunteer options as well.
This is a lovely place that adults and children alike will love to visit.
